Dave Portnoy raises ‘about $240,000’ for family of fallen NYPD officer Jonathan Diller

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has raised “approximately $240,000” for the family of deceased New York City Police Department officer Jonathan Diller, and has pledged to make an additional donation of the same amount.

Diller, 31, was shot and killed Monday night in Queens after a routine traffic stop turned into a shootout with the suspect. Officer Diller leaves behind a young widow, Stephanie, and a one-year-old son. In the video, Portnoy said Barstool Sports is selling NYPD merchandise on its store page, and that Portnoy and the company have collected additional donations to help support the family.

“OK, everyone saw this story,” Portnoy said in a video posted to his X and TikTok accounts. “It’s tragic. New York City police… Jonathan Diller who was killed? There’s a regular traffic stop where they pull over two guys who have been in and out of a million-person prison a million times, and they basically just shoot at him. ”

“It’s tragic. I left behind a one-year-old child and his wife. We put out T-shirts. We raised about $240,000 directly for the family. The money we made Everything will be donated to the family,” he continued. “Plus, everything we sell, everything we make, we just put it together at the end of the day today, at midnight, so we multiply what we can make.”

“We know money won’t solve this problem,” Portnoy added. “Nothing can cure this, but it’s the least we can do, and Barstool, myself, we support our police, we support our boys in blue, we support our first responders. You know, it’s tragic. They go out there and take their lives. It’s really terrible, so we’re here to support that. I will do whatever I can.”
