David Hogg, vice-chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said it’s wrong for Democrats to campaign hard on maintaining democracy.
Hogg’s comments about one of the major democratic topics during the election should spark further frustration for him as he is no longer an activist. He is currently part of leadership within the DNC.
“We always go out there as Democrats and say, ‘Democracy is the most important thing. We have to defend democracy.’ We don’t accept it. [for] Democracy of this generation has led us through school filming and school shootings. It has caught us in the climate crisis. I said CBS News.
“You can’t wait for these people to retire in their own leisure time.”
“All we have to do is stand up to the special interests that are killing America’s dreams and demonstrate to our young people that democracy is important by losing faith not only in our party but in the future of this country,” Hogg added.
Hogg is facing backlash from the inside party as a worthy leader for us, the organization we founded in 2023. The LWD has announced plans to spend $20 million on Congressional Democrats, who believe it is not enough to meet the concerns of young voters for a long time. Hogg claims he is not going to chase after Democrats in the Swing District, but the move comes from the DNC vice-chairman, causing intense hostility over Capitol Hill and beyond.
