“God is good,” DaVine Joy Randolph proclaimed Sunday night as she accepted the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
She received an award for her poignant and sensitive performance as Mary Lamb, a grieving mother in Alexander Payne’s film. holdoversRandolph, along with many others who have accompanied him over the years, humbly expressed tearful gratitude to Almighty God.
“God is so good,” she said through tears. “God is so good. I never thought I should do this as a career.”
Randolph thanked his mother and the many people who “stepped into my path” to encourage his acting career.
Randolph delivered an eloquent message about being yourself instead of trying to be something different, and concluded his moving speech by saying, “I pray to God that I can do that again and again.” .
“Thank you for meeting me. Have a happy night,” she said.
