Dean Phillips defends Biden as ‘decent man’ following special counsel report: ‘Sad day’

Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) defends President Biden as a “decent human being” after the special counsel’s report released this week prompted an angry press conference from the president. did.

Phillips appeared on Fox News’ Jesse Watters’ “Prime Time” show on Friday to make the case for his candidacy against Biden in what is seen as a long-term race.

“It was sad. You know, most patriotic Americans probably watched that press conference and saw a decent guy, so I really want to defend him. He’s a decent human being. And I thought it was a sad day that I had to go in front of the country and talk about my son Beau to defend myself from these accusations.” Phillips said.

Robert Hur, the special counsel investigating Biden’s handling of classified documents, concluded his case this week. Mr. Xu did not accuse Mr. Biden, but said the president “intentionally” kept classified documents from his time as vice president.

Ho’s report also depicts Biden as an “old man with a poor memory.” According to reports, Mr. Biden does not remember when his son Beau died.

After the report was released, Mr. Biden held an impromptu press conference and asked, “How on earth could he remember his son’s death?”

Phillips argued that the buzz from Biden’s press conference and Hsu’s reporting would not have happened if Biden had not run for president again.

“I respect him, but that’s the question. By the way, what about Donald Trump? He’s nowhere near as good as him,” Phillips said. He repeatedly stated that he was too old.

“Seventy-seven percent of the public wants us to move on from this chapter. We’ve had two presidents in our country, a former president and a current president, and frankly the public has lost confidence,” Phillips said. he said.

The Minnesota Democrat, who announced he would not run for re-election to the House because of his presidential bid, said he was the first Democratic lawmaker to call on Biden to “pass the torch” in July 2022.

“I think he should prioritize both his own legacy and most importantly the country,” he said. “And I think he’s making a decision for both parties by running again.”
