Dedicated Tesla Supporter Calls Out Elon Musk for Criticizing Trump's Big Beautiful Bill

Ross Gerber Critiques Elon Musk’s Stance on Trump

Ross Gerber, a notable Tesla investor and supporter, recently took to social media to voice his criticism of Elon Musk, particularly for Musk’s remarks regarding Donald Trump. Gerber pointed out the irony in Musk’s recent criticism of Trump, noting that he had previously assisted Trump during the election. “This should work for Tesla,” Gerber quipped.

In a pointed post, Gerber expressed his disappointment over Musk’s negative comments about Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.” He reminded followers that Trump’s stance against financial support for the EV sector was well-known, especially as Musk has been engaging with the current administration leading up to the 2024 election.

Gerber remarked, “I’m sure,” indicating frustration with Musk’s previous collaboration with those opposing Tesla’s interests. His post underscores the frustration that many Tesla supporters feel about Musk’s shifting political views.

Reports indicate that Musk has been vocal against Trump’s legislative initiative, especially once it became clear the bill might adversely affect Tesla’s business through modifications to EV credits.

According to Politico, the proposed law would end several tax credits that benefit Tesla, which is one of the largest electric vehicle manufacturers in the U.S. This includes federal tax credits of $7,500 for new EVs and $4,000 for used EVs, along with a $1,000 incentive for Level 2 charger installation. Furthermore, the legislation mandates a $250 yearly federal registration fee exclusively for EV owners.

If the bill remains unchanged, Tesla’s $11.4 billion worth of regulatory credits is set to expire at the end of 2025. These credits have significantly contributed to Tesla’s profitability in the early part of this year.

The backlash against Musk comes as he publicly opposes Trump’s “one big beautiful bill.” Musk articulated his disappointment, stating, “Frankly, I not only failed to reduce the budget deficit, but I was also disheartened by the massive spending bill.” Recently, he labeled the bill as “nasty hatred” on social media and urged his elected representatives to take action against it.

The billionaire has also recently resigned from his position in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a body set up to reduce federal expenditure. Musk reflected on the proposed bill, expressing concern that it undermines “all the cost savings the @Doge team has achieved with personal costs and risk.”
