Deion Sanders isn’t worried about his team’s playbook being leaked just hours before their losing game against Texas Tech, where they fell 29-3 on October 3.
Coming off a bye week, Sanders finally addressed this leak during a press conference on Tuesday.
“I’ve seen that before, both in the professional and college realms,” he noted. “It happens occasionally.”
The playbook, reportedly found by Texas Tech fans, was shared on a message board at a hotel where the Colorado team was staying in Broomfield. It contained details about Colorado’s opening plays along with offensive notes.
Despite the leak, Sanders seemed unfazed, suggesting that it didn’t really influence the game.
“I think we scored on that first drive, so maybe it didn’t affect us,” Sanders commented.
The fourth-year head coach further expressed skepticism, saying that if he discovered a playbook left behind, he’d suspect it’s a setup, dubbing it a “dummy script.”
“If someone called me about a script left by Utah, I wouldn’t buy it,” he explained. “And if they score right away? It just doesn’t add up.”
He also indicated that he doesn’t intend to investigate the leak any further.
“Why would we? It’s done. The game is over,” he said. “We probably know more than you think. But a whole playbook? Come on.”
The loss of the playbook coincided with Colorado’s struggle, marking their third straight defeat as they aim for their first win in the Big 12 this season, now sitting at a 2-3 record overall.
This Saturday, Sanders’ team faces a challenging matchup against an undefeated Utah squad that’s currently ranked No. 11 in the nation.
