Dem Border Sheriff: Border Like ‘Open Door’ – Most Crossing Will ‘Have a Hard Time’ Finding Work Due to Lack of Skills

In an interview published Thursday on the “Fox News Rundown” podcast, Texas’ Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber (D) said the border is “a lot different” now. In a way, this is like an open door. ” and that “the vast majority of people coming in don’t have the skills. … I think they’re going to have a hard time finding work.”

Schmerber says, “Before…it was only immigrants…who came to work…not to stay. The majority had no intention of staying here. But now, a lot has changed. This has changed a lot. is like an open door. Some people come to stay here, but of course criminal elements take advantage of it, drugs come in, robberies come in, immigrants from Honduras come in. There was also a situation where he raped one of the elderly people. … So it changed a lot, it was completely different.”
