A Florida lawmaker apologized Monday for invoking insensitive stereotypes in a joke aimed at Republican South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.
“Why does it feel like she wanted to eat dog with Kim Jong Un?” Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz said of Noem promoting Noem’s upcoming book on “CBS Mornings.” I wrote an article for X in response to the clip.
Noem’s book includes false claims about meetings with the North Korean leader and a true anecdote about killing her 14-month-old “untrained” hunting dog. .
Moskowitz is called out Politico’s Nicholas Wu said the Florida Democratic Party was “using stereotypes about Asians and dogs here.”

The only two Korean-American Democrats in the House of Representatives thanked Moskowitz, who deleted the tweet, and apologized.
“We appreciate our colleagues standing up against extremism in the Republican Party, but we cannot perpetuate harmful stereotypes in the process,” said Rep. Andy Kim (D.N.J.) and Rep. Marilyn Strickland (D.C.). State Democratic Party) said in a statement. “Thank you to Congressman Moskowitz for apologizing and deleting the tweet.”
This isn’t the first time Moskowitz has tweeted something he later regretted.
