Dem Senate candidate Elissa Slotkin’s ‘small consulting business’ may have never been active

A Democrat running for Senate in the battleground state of Michigan is facing intense scrutiny over the limited liability company he formed in 2017, just weeks before announcing his bid for Congress.

Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., formed an LLC called Pinpoint Consulting weeks before announcing she would run for Congress in 2017 to unseat an incumbent Republican. The business is “not in good standing” as of 2020, according to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The last annual report for this business was filed in 2019.

According to the Internet, in October 2017, Slotkin’s campaign website ElissaForCongress.com posted, “I am a third-generation Michigander who spent my childhood on a farm in Holly, Michigan, where I currently live and run a small consulting business.” “I run a company,” it said. Archive snapshot.

In an ad launched by End Citizens United defending Slotkin in May 2018, the organization claimed that “she is Holly’s small business owner.”

A financial disclosure report filed with the Clerk of the House in August 2023 still lists Mr. Slotkin as the founder and CEO of Pinpoint Consulting. However, a comment in the document states that “the business has been inactive since 2017 and is not generating any income/revenue.”

Slotkin’s campaign would not say whether she had clients, income or employees. The lawmaker’s various disclosures do not always reveal her income from her company.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, his spokesperson said, “Congressman Slotkin started a consulting firm after leaving the Department of Defense and was considering various job opportunities. He ultimately joined the House of Representatives. I have decided to run for office.”

Slotkin served as acting assistant secretary of defense until January 2017, according to his official biography. The LLC was formed on June 21, 2017 with the State of Michigan. By July 10, he had announced a legislative effort to unseat then-Republican Rep. Mike Bishop.

It’s a place I always come back to to figure out my next steps. [are]. ”

But some critics don’t think that alone explains the company’s founding and apparent inactivity.

“She’s running against an incumbent in a Republican-leaning district, and everyone is focused on small businesses,” Jason Cabell Roe, who led the Congressional Leadership Fund’s effort to support Bishop in the 2018 campaign, said at the time. “He had his arms crossed,” he said. .

“What she tried to do in 2018 was try to present herself as a moderate Republican to Republican voters who didn’t like Donald Trump,” he said. .

Mr. Slotkin’s business is not mentioned in his Senate campaign. She is not even listed in her official biography. “That means she doesn’t stand up to scrutiny,” Roe said.

National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokesperson Maggie Abboud told Fox News Digital: “Elissa Slotkin is trying to make a name for herself on paper so she can call herself a small business owner when she runs for Congress.” “I have launched a consulting business,” he said in a statement.

“However, it appears that she had no actual clients. Ms. Slotkin’s misrepresentation of her business experience could be a major problem for her campaign,” she added.
