A House Democratic staffer who came under fire for praising President Biden after his $8,000 in student loan debt was cancelled is facing even more scrutiny on social media for posts that showed spending habits while earning a salary of more than $90,000 a year.
“I think it’s important to be mindful of what’s going on in the state,” said Ben Kamens, a spokesman for longtime Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur. Social media storm This week, he posted documents showing that $8,250 in student loans dating back to 2010 were wiped out under President Biden’s latest student loan relief package, in a video that has been viewed nearly 20 million times.
“I just got a call letting me know my student loans have been forgiven,” Kamens wrote. “This is why the election matters. Thank you @JoeBiden.”
Conservatives on social media slammed Kamens for seemingly bragging about his government debt being paid for by taxpayers. According to Reguistrom, Kamens made $80,000 last year and is on track to make nearly $90,000 this year.

Kamens was seen outside Kaptur’s office on Thursday. The video was posted online The article was written by journalist Matthew Forde. In the video, Kamens is asked about the viral post and refuses to answer questions before walking into Kaptur’s office and slamming the door.
Additionally, Rep. Kaptur has faced criticism as a result of this post due to his inconsistent stance on student loan relief.
“What happens to those who have paid off their loans?” Kaptur says: He has voiced opposition to Biden’s plan to cancel student loan debt in 2022.
“There was no consultation with Congress,” Kaptur said. “The last time I looked at the Constitution, you can’t affect the federal budget without Congress taking up the bill. I think the president probably overstepped his authority in this case. My guess is this case will end up in court. I’m not sure how that will happen.”
Kaptur used to be Voted against the bill That would cancel Biden’s student loan debt cancellation plan.
“Joe Biden’s unconstitutional student loan forgiveness facade is clearly the easiest way for him to buy votes, but Marcy Kaptur’s voting record in support of this plan shows how out of touch she is with Northwest Ohio voters,” NRCC spokesman Mike Marinella told Fox News Digital.

Kaptur is expected to face a tough re-election battle this fall against Republican candidate Derek Merin, who told Fox News Digital that “Marcy Kaptur refuses to stand up for Ohio’s values of hard work and personal responsibility.”
“Her voting record against Biden’s student loan relief is the latest example. Hard-working Northwest Ohioans every day are not responsible for paying someone else’s student loans. Period.”
Fox News Digital reached out to Kaptur’s office for comment but did not receive a response.
