Arizona Senator Warns Immigrants About Federal Enforcement
Arizona Senator Analiz Ortiz (D) has taken to social media to alert undocumented individuals about upcoming federal immigration law enforcement activities in the state, stating her intention to keep this practice going.
On X, a social media account called Tiktok’s Libs shared a screenshot from Ortiz’s Instagram Stories. In it, she posted the date, time, and location of what she claims are immigration and customs enforcement operations. When pushed by Senator Jake Hoffman (R) for potential federal charges, Ortiz responded, “Yes. When ICE is around, I inform my community to steer clear of those areas. I’m not intimidated by you or those who wear Trump masks.”
Hoffman asserted that Ortiz’s actions may be against federal law and announced plans to file an ethical complaint, suggesting she is jeopardizing law enforcement efforts.
Ortiz countered, saying, “Bring it, Jake. ICE alerts prevent people from getting hurt, including American citizens and legal residents. You’re trying to flip the narrative, but the public understands the true dangers to our safety.”
She likens her alerts to those from navigation apps like Waze, which notify users about police locations on their routes.
The Arizona Senate Republicans, in support of ICE and immigration laws, mentioned in a statement that Ortiz could face serious scrutiny if Congress were in session. They also pointed out that she has brought potential legal violations to light.
Meanwhile, Arizona Attorney General Chris Mays, a Democrat, defended Ortiz’s right to free speech, despite rising attacks on federal agents in immigration sectors, reportedly increasing by over 800% due to heightened tensions among the public.
