Moderate Democrats Unite Against Far-Left Policies
A coalition of moderate Democrats has come together to counteract the extreme agendas from both the far right and the far left. This movement seems to be fueled by recent election outcomes, particularly in New York City, where established Democratic figures faced defeat in the primaries.
At a recent rally, about a dozen Democrats with centrist views endorsed a pledge to address these concerns, revealing a collective frustration with the leftward shift they perceive within the party. They are utilizing a platform called “A Promise to America”.
“Americans want safe communities and institutions that solve problems. We believe in building more to reduce costs and expand opportunity.”
New York Congressman Tom Suozzi spoke on Fox News, underscoring the need for this initiative. He mentioned that some of his beliefs don’t resonate in the current political climate, especially after the primaries.
“As stated in our pledge, we stand for capitalism, not socialism. We prioritize security, and we don’t support illegal activities. We are proud of America; there’s no need to feel ashamed. It’s essential to promote these values,” Suozzi emphasized. He noted that while the far left and far right are well-organized, moderates must also improve their outreach.
The group’s pledge conveyed a significant point: “America is more robust than our political divisions. These divisions force false dilemmas between extremes, which we reject.” They highlighted that many Americans haven’t shared in the prosperity of recent decades.
“We want an economy that is more accessible, providing opportunities and rewards for hard work. Safe communities and effective institutions are vital,” they reiterated. Their belief is that the Democratic Party achieves success by appealing broadly and favoring persuasion over strict ideological purity.
The pledge also invites supporters to participate and sign their commitment.

The recent rise of far-left candidates, particularly those backed by Democratic Mayor Zoran Mamdani, has been described as a significant shift for the Democratic Party. Interestingly, some figures, like Hunter Biden, believe this trend suggests a need for Democrats to reposition themselves further left.
Additively, several other Democrats have aligned themselves with this moderate agenda, including Rep. Adam Gray from California, Rep. Laura Gillen of New York, Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivett of Michigan, and Rep. Josh Gottheimer from New Jersey.
