Democratic lesbian Latina candidate for Congress faces allegations of unwanted sexual advances from four women.

Allegations Against Salt Lake City Council Member

A Latina lesbian who serves on the Salt Lake City Council has come forward, claiming she was sexually harassed by four women during her campaign for a congressional seat. Among the accusers, three are elected officials, all of whom allege that Eva López Chavez made unwanted sexual advances toward them.

In response to these allegations, Chavez expressed her shock through her lawyer, denying any prior interactions and asserting that nothing improper occurred with the three accusers. “She is ready to confront these claims in court and willing to take a polygraph test to prove her integrity,” stated her attorney, Greg Skordas, in a communication to local media.

According to the accusers, they notified others about their experiences, and their claims were verified by reports. All incidents reportedly took place prior to Chavez’s election to the council.

The accusers chose to speak out, partly due to Chavez’s congressional campaign and her previous criticisms of another politician regarding the oil crisis. They’ve noted Chavez has previously addressed issues of sexual assault and domestic violence.

“Our communities deserve leaders who genuinely take these concerns to heart, not just in words but in actions,” one of the accusers remarked. They argued that Chavez’s remarks overlooked her own conduct toward women.

One accuser recounted a specific interaction with Chavez, alleging that she was shoved against a wall, where Chavez expressed, “The only reason I still have sex with men is because women won’t show me what I really want.”

Chavez, the first Mexican American elected to the Salt Lake City Council and the daughter of a Mexican immigrant family, has a history of advocating for reform, including the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as stated in her biography on various platforms.
