President Biden is scheduled to address the convention on Monday night, kicking off a week of events.
The highly anticipated speech came after Biden suspended his reelection campaign in a surprising and unprecedented upheaval following the primary election cycle.

Just a month ago, Biden had won both Democratic primaries undefeated and was seen as the leading candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination.

But after his dismal performance in a debate with former President Trump in June, Democrats began pressuring Biden to end his reelection bid.
Biden ultimately caved in to the pressure and announced he was ending his reelection campaign just days after the Republican National Convention concluded with Trump and his running mate, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, being confirmed as the GOP nominee.
The unprecedented withdrawal came amid growing public calls among lawmakers and leading Democrats for Biden to step down, and as party leaders also sought to convince the 81-year-old Biden that he cannot beat Trump in November’s general election.
Biden quickly voiced his “full support and endorsement” of Harris becoming the party’s presidential nominee.
Hillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton, a former Secretary of State and two-time failed presidential candidate, is also scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention on Monday night.
Clinton was the first woman to become a major party’s presidential nominee in 2016.

Hours after Biden withdrew, Clinton and others endorsed Kamala Harris
But Trump won the 2016 presidential election.
If Harris wins in November, she will become the first female president of the United States.
Former President Obama
Former President Obama is scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night.
Sources told Fox News Digital that the movement calling for Biden to drop out of the race was led by a group of Obama allies and former advisers, including former Biden adviser David Axelrod and George Clooney, a personal friend of the Obamas.
President Barack Obama, who served as Biden’s vice president for two terms, eventually, but not immediately, endorsed Harris after Biden dropped out of the race.

President Obama initially declared that Democrats would be “navigating uncharted territory,” but said he was “confident” the party could “create a process that will produce great candidates.”

But the process appears to have been driven by a surge in grassroots donations, with Democratic Party leaders publicly rallying around Harris in the hours after she announced her presidential campaign.
President Obama called Harris a “happy warrior.”

“We join millions of Americans in thanking President Biden for standing up for America time and time again and for all he has accomplished while always having the best interests of the country in mind,” they said in a joint statement. “We are honored to join the president in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do all we can to support her.”
Clinton’s speech is expected to take place just before a speech by Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota.
Governor Tim Walz
Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz is scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night.
Walz, the Minnesota governor, was introduced last week as Harris’ running mate.

Walz was elected to the House of Representatives in 2006 and was re-elected five times, representing Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District, a rural district in the southern part of the state that includes many mid-sized cities. During his final two years in Congress, Walz served as the ranking member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
Walz won the governor’s election in 2018 and was re-elected four years later.
