Support for Trump’s Actions Against Iran

In a surprising turn, Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania, usually a defender of the Israeli left, expressed full support for President Donald Trump’s actions against Iran. This comes amid reactions from lawmakers across the political spectrum.

Fetterman tweeted, “President Trump has been willing to do what is right and necessary to create true peace in the region.” This sentiment was echoed by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a prominent advocate for military action, who characterized Trump as both a “man of peace” and “evil’s worst nightmare.” In a series of posts, Graham expressed admiration for the president’s dedication to this significant operation, saying, “Well done, Mr. President.”

Reports indicated that the U.S. military was collaborating with Israel to target specific military sites and missile bases in Iran deemed an “imminent threat.” While the U.S. is not engaging directly with Iranian leaders, Israel’s actions reportedly included hits on high-profile targets, such as the residence of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei in Tehran.

In a subsequent video, Trump urged the Iranian populace to clear the way for an anticipated change, stating, “when we’re done, take over your government. It’ll be yours.” Graham added more praise, saying, “God bless @POTUS for planning and executing Operation Epic Fury, making America safer and ultimately richer.” He also invoked blessings for the troops involved and expressed a deep belief that their sacrifices would contribute to a safer world.

Additionally, Graham voiced a rather dramatic sentiment concerning the potential end of the Ayatollah’s regime, saying, “My heart is beating at the thought that there is a murderer in the Ayatollah regime that will disappear soon.” While there had already been reports of explosions, Graham’s first support for the military action came in the early hours, describing it as “necessary and long justified.”

In another post, he reflected on the broader implications, stating, “The biggest change in the Middle East in 1,000 years is on the horizon,” mentioning a hopeful thawing of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel if the Ayatollah were to fall.

Meanwhile, Rep. Thomas Massey (R-Ky.) raised concerns about the legality of these actions, asserting that Trump did not seek congressional approval, deeming it “an act of war not authorized by Congress.” Conversely, Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi) commended the military operation against what he called “the world’s leading proliferator of terrorism.” He emphasized the critical need for this action to safeguard American interests and acknowledged the challenges facing the President.

Wicker’s message was quite clear: “The Iranian regime is weaker than ever,” suggesting that the time for decisive action was ripe. He further warned that without military intervention, Iran’s ability to collaborate with other global threats would only expand.

In light of these developments, the focus remains on the U.S. military’s capability and readiness, with many believing that the actions taken now will bolster safety for generations to come.
