A man linked to the Democratic party, Kilmer Abrego Garcia, was under suspicion for human trafficking when MS-13 gang members were deported from the U.S. to El Salvador. This incident took place during a law enforcement operation in Tennessee in 2022.
Body camera footage released by Fox News on Thursday reveals that Garcia was portrayed as a victim of illegal deportation when highway patrol officers stopped him for a traffic violation.
During the stop, officers accused him of transporting eight people in his vehicle for profit, as reported by the New York Post. The group had traveled from Texas.
Originally pulled over for speeding, when Garcia’s name was checked in the National Crime Information Center, he was flagged as a suspected gang member.
While discussing the situation, one trooper expressed his belief that Garcia was involved in trafficking. Sources told Fox that there was an edited clip showing law enforcement considering alerting immigration authorities, although federal agents did not arrive at the scene.
According to Fox, when FBI agents under former President Biden were contacted, they advised the troopers against detaining Garcia.
In the footage, Garcia appears somewhat still in the passenger seat while answering a trooper’s questions. The officers can be seen debating whether the passengers lacked luggage, suggesting they might be hiding items like toiletries in their pockets.
Garcia was eventually given a citation for driving with an expired license and was released.
In April, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Tennessee Police presented further evidence suggesting that Garcia had smuggled undocumented immigrants into Maryland the previous year, according to Breitbart News.
Deputy Chief Tricia McLaughlin stated, “The evidence indicates that he transported eight individuals from Texas to Maryland without any luggage. The facts are clear.”
Garcia was deported in March and sent to Secott Prison in El Salvador. His wife is a U.S. citizen, and they had lived together in Maryland.
Reportedly, his wife, Jennifer Vasquez, had filed a second request for protection against him in 2020 due to threats he made that terrified her and her children, as noted by Breitbart news.
In a social media post on Friday, McLaughlin remarked, “The media and Democrats have lost their last shred of credibility by praising an MS-13 gang member and domestic violence perpetrator like Kilmer Abrego Garcia.”
“We’ve confronted the media with compelling evidence, yet they continue to label him a victim while ignoring the real victims: the women he abused, the children he scared, and the communities he endangered,” she added.
