Demonstrators interrupt Noem's Homeland Security meeting as officials caution about increasing dangers

Protesters Disrupt Homeland Security Briefing

During a briefing on the significant threats facing the U.S., led by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, two protesters created a scene that interrupted lawmakers momentarily.

Shouting phrases like, “Stop the deportations!” and “The power of Christ drives you!” the demonstrators were reminded that obstructing parliamentary sessions is illegal. Still, they persisted.

Following their disruption, security swiftly removed the first protester, but before exiting, another individual began to shout, “Get ICE out of our streets! Stop terrorizing our communities!” waving a sign in the air.

This protester was also escorted out of the chamber. Meanwhile, Noem carried on with her remarks, unfazed by the disturbances.

The House hearing, dubbed “Global Threats to the Homeland,” provided an avenue for lawmakers to interrogate Noem and other officials about critical security challenges.

Noem emphasized that a single untraceable illegal immigrant entering the country under the current administration represents a serious concern. Other officials echoed this sentiment during the hearing.

Joe Kent, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, stated, “The biggest threat to me right now is the fact that we don’t know who has come into our country over the last four years since Mr. Biden opened the border.”

Under the prior administration, over 2 million illegal immigrants were deported, as indicated by DHS tracking data.
