DeSantis again castigates Harris for trying to politicize hurricane disaster response: ‘She has no role in this process’

Florida's Republican Governor Ron DeSantis once again criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for trying to throw herself into disaster relief efforts after Hurricane Milton.

DeSantis created comment When asked Thursday by a CBS News reporter about her accusation that he didn't respond to her calls to help affected residents, he responded:

“As governor here, leading this, I don't have time for those games. I'm not interested in her campaign.”

“I didn't even know she was trying to contact me, but she has no role in this process. And I've been dealing with these storms in Florida. [former President] Trump and Biden. Neither of them politicized it. And in fact, in all the storms I've dealt with under this administration, and I've worked well with the president, the president has never been in Florida. She never offered any assistance,” the governor said.

Harris began a feud with the governor, accusing him of ignoring her in order to politicize the disaster response. Mr. DeSantis hit back at the proposal with his own blistering remarks.

“My focus is not on dealing with Kamala Harris,” the governor said last week. “I didn't know she was trying to contact me, but I also don't think it's about you, Kamala.”

Strangely, President Joe Biden appeared to tone down Harris' attack on DeSantis, leading some to speculate that the president was taking revenge for being kicked out of his re-election campaign. .

DeSantis elaborated on this criticism of Harris on Thursday.

“So what she's doing is trying to throw herself into this issue for her own political campaign,” he added. “So as a governor who is leading on this issue, I don't have time for that kind of play. I'm not interested in her campaign. Obviously, I'm not a supporter of her.”
