DeSantis Could Have Fallen in Polls Due to Abortion Stance, I Want ‘Something Where People Are Happy’

During a Fox News Channel town hall on Wednesday, former President Donald Trump, a 2024 Republican presidential candidate, answered a question about blaming abortion for the Republican election loss and criticism of the heartbeat law, saying that he believed the mother's life had been lost. He said it had to be taken away. Rape and incest are exempt, but beyond that, “I want to get something that will make people happy.'' “We're going to come up with something that people want and people like.'' And 2024 Republican candidate and rival Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' position on abortion has caused him to drop in the polls. I think this may be the cause. Within 5 or 6 weeks. ” And, “You have to follow your heart first, follow your heart, follow your will, follow it. But you also have to put a little effort into it because you have to win the election.”

President Trump said, “I'm in an exceptional position, like President Ronald Reagan, mother's life, rape, incest, etc., but I think I just have to be there. Probably about 78%.'' think [support that]. …But let me tell you this: we have to win the election. Otherwise, it will return to its original location. And we can't prevent something like that from happening again. We have to win the election. Look, Ron DeSantis — I don't know what he really believes. Because you never know what a politician is, and as far as I can tell he's just a politician — but his poll numbers are down to: He will be withdrawing from the race soon. …I don't know if that's the case, but [was] reason. I hope that's not the reason. I hope it's some other reason. I think there are many other reasons why he shouldn't do it, but his performance is very poor. It happened to coincide with that. Because a lot of people say…if you're talking about five or six weeks, a lot of women don't know if they're pregnant after five or six weeks. ”

He continued, “I want to have things that make people happy. This has torn our country apart for 50 years. …I understand exactly where you're coming from. I love where you're coming from. But we still have to win elections. And they took advantage of this — we have some great Republicans, and They're great at this…and a lot of them just got decimated in the election…so we're going to come up with something that people want, that people like. We'd love for you to do that. But first of all, you have to follow your heart. Follow your heart first, follow your heart, follow your mind, follow yourself. But you have to win the election. , you need to put a little effort into it. But if it's not me Roe vs. Wade, …You wouldn't ask such a question. And remember this, they are radicals, we are not radicals. …But we live in times when a little concession is necessary in any case. …So I think you'll be happy in the end.”
