Florida to Host Donald Trump Presidential Library

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has revealed plans to set aside land in South Florida for a presidential library dedicated to Donald Trump, who served as both the 45th and 47th President of the United States.

According to a press release on Tuesday, DeSantis intends to propose a 2.63-acre site in Miami-Dade County for the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library during the upcoming Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund meeting scheduled for September 30th.

“President Trump has achieved results for the American people and made a lasting impact on our nation’s history,” DeSantis stated. He added, “No state has better delivered the President’s agenda than the Free State of Florida, and we would be honored to house his presidential library here in his home state.”

The location under consideration is currently a parking lot linked to Miami-Dade College.

On the same day, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier expressed support for the initiative via X, suggesting it’s an ideal place to commemorate and reflect on Trump’s two terms in office.

“It is the greatest political comeback story in American history,” Uthmeier remarked. “Florida will be blessed to house the library for one of our own state presidents and to be a part of such meaningful history.”

Florida has increasingly become a stronghold for conservative politics. In 2019, Trump officially switched his voter registration from New York to Florida. He frequently entertains political allies at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach and benefitted significantly from the state’s solid Republican support—winning Florida by a margin of 13 points in the previous November’s elections.
