MINNEAPOLIS — Delivery company DHL is suing MyPillow, alleging that the company, whose founder, chief salesman and election denier Mike Lindell is synonymous with, owes about $800,000 in unpaid invoices.
The lawsuit is the latest legal battle against Lindell and MyPillow, a prominent supporter of Donald Trump who helped spread Trump's false claims that the 2020 election was stolen to Trump's benefit.
In a lawsuit filed Monday in Hennepin County District Court in Minneapolis, DHL's e-commerce division alleges MyPillow violated a contract that requires the Minnesota-based company to pay for all parcel delivery services within 15 days of invoice. The two companies reached a settlement in May 2023 under which MyPillow will pay $775,000 in 24-month installments starting in April of this year, according to the lawsuit.
But the lawsuit alleges that MyPillow only paid $64,583.34 in total in settlement payments, with the last payment received on June 6. DHL says it notified MyPillow of the default on July 2.
The lawsuit seeks $799,925.59 plus interest and attorney's fees.
Lindell told The Associated Press on Thursday that he was unaware of the lawsuit but that he held DHL responsible for the delivery disputes and decided to stop using DHL more than a year ago.
Lawsuits and billing disputes are nothing new for “MyPillow Guy.” He is being sued for defamation by two voting machine companies. The lawyers who initially defended him in those cases have since dropped out, citing unpaid bills.
Last year's credit crunch caused MyPillow to lose one of its major advertising platforms, Fox News, and was also dropped by several national retailers, disrupting its cash flow.
A judge in February upheld a $5 million arbitration award to a software engineer who challenged data that Lindell claimed proved Chinese interference in the 2020 election.
