ICE Officer Shoots Violent Illegal Alien with Gang Ties
Officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have reported that an illegal alien, involved with a violent gang, was shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer on Thursday afternoon. The individual, a Dominican national, had been arrested by the NYPD on December 23, but was released shortly after due to what DHS described as “reckless Democrat sanctuary policies that put American lives at risk.”
Around 4 p.m. local time, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers attempted to detain the individual, known for a violent criminal background. During this operation, an ICE officer fired his weapon, injuring the illegal alien.
This Dominican national had a history of criminal activity, including a prior conviction for grand larceny and multiple arrests for offenses such as assault, robbery, drug possession, and weapons charges. DHS identified him as a member of the Trinitarios gang, notorious for violence and linked to the murder of a Customs and Border Protection officer in 2024.
The man had been arrested again by NYPD officers during the ongoing Biden border crisis, but once more, sanctuary city policies in New York City led to his release just days later, as indicated by a DHS social media statement.
After the shooting incident, ICE officers provided immediate assistance to the injured individual, who is reportedly recovering in a local hospital.
DHS officials emphasized the risks faced by their officers when they have to operate in communities where dangerous individuals are released back onto the streets due to political policies. “Our officers should not have to risk their lives, and innocent Americans should not have to face unnecessary danger,” they stated. “This occurs because sanctuary politicians refuse to cooperate with federal law enforcement.”
In the wake of the shooting, protesters gathered to obstruct the investigation, complicating the situation further for ICE officers.
The NYPD confirmed that the shooting occurred in the Marble Hill area of the Bronx, clarifying that they were not involved in the incident.
New York Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani highlighted that there was a five-year-old child in the vehicle with the individual who was shot, calling it both “unconscionable” and a “serious situation.”
He reiterated his stance on abolishing ICE, expressing his concern for the injured party and their family, stating, “Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker tonight. We are praying for his recovery.”
