Exclusive: Abusive Voicemail Received by ICE Agent Amid Minneapolis Unrest
On Monday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) made public a disturbing voicemail loaded with abusive language directed at an ICE agent based in Minnesota. The voicemail reportedly came from someone trying to instigate during the turmoil in Minneapolis.
While the content of the message won’t be shared here due to its explicit nature, the caller accuses the agent of being a fascist, urging him to take his own life. The caller continues with a string of vitriol, stating, “I hope your wife dies. I hope your mom and dad die. I hope all the mistakes go away. I wish you the most miserable life.”
The communications escalated, as the caller referred to the agent as a traitor to American values. He also expressed a wish for the agent’s personal misfortunes, commenting on a recent accident where the agent was hit by a transit vehicle and adding that his wife had been unfaithful.
Response from DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin was swift. She attributed such “threatening rhetoric” and unprecedented violence to local “sanctuary politicians” who have continually disparaged federal law enforcement. She highlighted the repeated comparisons being made between ICE and the notorious Gestapo, citing it as an example of damaging rhetoric.
McLaughlin mentioned that the officers at ICE are just like anyone else, wanting to return home to their families safely after their shifts. She strongly condemned the dehumanization and violence that these law enforcement professionals face while executing their duties. According to her, threats against ICE personnel have surged—reporting an increase of 8,000% in death threats and a 1,300% rise in physical assaults during the second Trump administration, despite the agency’s mission to remove serious criminals from communities.
She assured that threats and assaults on law enforcement are serious federal felonies, with the DHS promising full prosecution for anyone involved in such activities. In light of the voicemail incident, people were encouraged to report any threats or harassment towards ICE officers by calling a designated number.
In a separate but related political move, Democrats have initiated impeachment proceedings against Kristi Noem over her management of ICE, with another Louisiana Representative backing this action during a recent House Homeland Security Committee meeting.
Efforts for comments were made to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey regarding this disturbing situation.
