DHS starts giving lie detector tests to employees to try and find ICE raid leakers

The Department of Homeland Security provided tests of lying detectors to employees to find out who is leaking details about upcoming migrant raids.

The polygraph test is conducted for about three weeks. A DHS spokesman confirmed to CBS News. It was not immediately clear how many employees had already undergone polygraphs.

President Trump's DHS secretary Christie Noem issued an internal directive for February 18, ordering staff to submit polygraph tests and cracking down on people trying to block immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) deportation operations, the outlet reported.

DHS has previously used polygraph tests to screen new recruits, but staff are now being asked specifically about documents and sensitive law enforcement information classified under the NOEM's new directive, sources said.

It comes days after the DHS boss revealed that two individuals accused of leaking details about the attack have been identified and referred to the Department of Justice for “felony prosecution.”

“We plan to indict these two individuals and hold them accountable for what they did,” she added. “And we will continue to do everything we can to keep America safe.”

It was not clear whether the two suspected leakers were identified using a lie detector.

Noem and Border Czar Tom Homan have previously criticised lower than expected ice outages for obvious leaks.
