Outrage Follows Arrest of Undocumented Immigrant for Child Molestation in Virginia
Recently, the arrest of 19-year-old Israel Christopher Flores Ortiz, an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, has ignited significant public outrage. He is accused of molesting a dozen female high school classmates in Fairfax County, Virginia. The Outnumbered Committee claims that the school district delayed reporting the assaults for weeks, thereby violating state laws. Additionally, they express dissatisfaction with the Biden administration’s immigration policies, which they argue have facilitated illegal entries into the U.S.
In a similar case, Jose Lopez-Montoya, a 41-year-old from Louisiana, has confirmed being an illegal immigrant from Honduras after pleading guilty to raping and impregnating his 12-year-old relative, as disclosed by federal authorities. Local news outlets have referred to him as the “Lake Charles Man.” He faces a possible sentence of up to 99 years for the continuous abuse of minors.
The Department of Homeland Security has revealed that Lopez-Montoya illegally entered the U.S. in 2011 during the Obama administration. The agency stated that Lopez-Montoya’s case highlights issues surrounding coverage of immigrant crimes, adding that ICE is coordinating with local authorities to ensure he remains in custody to prevent future offenses.
The victim of Lopez-Montoya’s abuse reportedly gave birth in July 2024, and he has acknowledged paternity of the child. Authorities note that the abuse occurred over two years while he was responsible for the girl’s care.
Lopez-Montoya was charged with two counts of first-degree rape and remains in immigration custody. He has entered a guilty plea for aggravated crimes related to incest and is set for sentencing on April 28th, with potential prison terms ranging from 25 to 99 years.
