A man who appears to be protesting Elon Musk's political activities I accidentally illuminated myself It is setting fire while trying to destroy an electronic vehicle charging station, South Carolina State Police said.
The incident unfolded Friday at the Tesla charging station near the mellow mushroom pizzeria in northern Charleston. According to a report from the North Charleston Police Department, the man wrote “Free Ukraine” and another message to President Donald Trump.
Investigators are able to collect beer bottles from suspected attacks and are trying to collect fingerprints from the glass.
Police said the man set fire to some ingredients packed in beer bottles and threw them at the station.
Witnesses told police he accidentally set the fire on fire and fled the scene.
Firefighters were able to reduce power to the charger before putting out the fire. Investigators are able to collect beer bottles from suspected attacks and are trying to collect fingerprints from the glass.
On Tuesday, North Charleston Police spokesman Herb Jacobs said he had not been arrested yet and had been referred to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Witnesses described the suspect as a white man with a gray jacket and a black mask. Police estimated the man caused about $60,000 in damage to the charging station.
