Disney World enthusiasts are upset that leaders are 'erasing' the park's original essence with the closure of the Rivers of America attraction.

Disney World enthusiasts are feeling down about what’s happening at their favorite destination.

The theme park recently announced that three beloved attractions will be closing on July 7th. In their place, a new attraction called Piston Peak National Park will be launched, themed around Disney and Pixar’s “Cars.”

According to Disney Parks Blog, this new area will feature “towering trees, snowy mountains, breathtaking waterfalls, roaring rivers, and a rambling wilderness filled with impressive geysers.” They seem genuinely excited about the upcoming attraction.

Piston Peak, though fictional, draws inspiration from the history and famous landscapes of the Rocky Mountains and American frontier national parks.

Despite the enthusiasm from some, many visitors are upset about these changes, feeling the loss of beloved attractions. “I canceled my trip in October and sadly, I will never visit the park again,” one visitor lamented.

Another said, “I am saddened by the loss of Tom Sawyer Island. This is the worst decision ever.” A commenter added, “The America of the River Walt embodies exploration and adventure… This is a big mistake from Disney. The cartoon car doesn’t stand the test of time.”

On a more positive note, other fans are hopeful about the future. They believe that Piston Peak could bring exciting changes. “I showed this to a 10-year-old, and he cried out with joy, ‘Piston Peak?!’ It’s great to see a new generation getting space in the park,” one post mentioned.

Some share a sense of fatigue with the direction Disney has taken, voicing dissatisfaction with the current leadership. One user reflected, “I love classic Disney, but I’ve lost interest in the current parks and movies. They’re not part of my world anymore.”

Yet, amidst this mix of opinions, there’s excitement surrounding the upgrades. “I like how they’re incorporating water features to maintain the park’s atmosphere,” another comment highlighted.
