An American Airlines passenger plane tackled and secured a man with camote tape as he tried to open the plane’s door mid-flight, causing the plane to return to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
American Airlines Flight 1219, bound for Chicago, made a U-turn shortly after takeoff and landed at Albuquerque International Airport around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Barstool Sports’ Wonton Dong was on the plane and said about 30 minutes into the flight, a man several rows behind him tried to open the plane’s door.
“Me and five other guys had to wrestle him down the aisle, put duct tape on his legs, and throw him flexible cuffs. We made it back to ABQ safely, but oh my god, S. —T” he tweeted.
He then posted a photo of the suspect being escorted off the plane by four police officers.
American Airlines acknowledged that there was a “disturbance caused by an unwanted passenger on board.”
The Albuquerque Police Department and FBI Albuquerque Office did not respond to The Post’s requests for comment.
