Michigan Woman Turns Herself In After Coffee Attack on McDonald’s Manager

A woman involved in an incident where she allegedly threw hot coffee at a McDonald’s manager in Michigan has turned herself in and faced a judge.

Kashala T. Brown, 48, from Saginaw, surrendered to police last Friday. This came after authorities issued a warrant for her arrest nine days earlier, as reported by MLive.com.

During her court appearance, Brown was arraigned before Saginaw County District Judge M. Randall Jurrens on a charge of assault and battery. This is classified as a misdemeanor, which could lead to a punishment of up to 93 days in jail and a $500 fine. There have been attempts by police to escalate the situation to felony charges, as stated in previous reports.

Judge Jurrens released her on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond, with a notable condition: she is barred from entering any McDonald’s locations.

The incident took place on the morning of November 4 at the McDonald’s located on Dixie Highway in Buena Vista Township. Brown requested a refund for two sandwiches she ordered online. To soothe the situation, a manager offered her a cup of coffee. However, Brown claimed she had been waiting for over an hour. The conversation degraded, and when she started to walk away, the manager wished her a nice day, which reportedly agitated her further.

In a sudden burst of frustration, she removed the lid from the coffee cup and hurled the contents at the manager, shouting, “Fuck you! Drink that hot coffee!” Exit videos showed that the manager reacted as the hot liquid splashed onto him.

Prior to Brown’s surrender, Detective Russ Persen indicated that a video capturing the assault was shared on social media to help identify her. Remarkably, Brown was recognized as the suspect quite rapidly.

While the manager sustained minor burns, investigators later mentioned that his clothing may have provided adequate protection from serious injury.

MLive reached out to Brown’s defense attorney, but he opted not to comment on the case.
