What started as a routine traffic stop has turned into a significant police investigation. A 44-year-old, identified as Eugene Horsch, is now under suspicion for the murders of at least four women.
During the stop in June, officers found Horsch with a fake Drug Enforcement Administration identification, a substantial amount of drugs, and two illegal firearms.
A particularly unsettling piece of evidence was a handwritten note referencing infamous serial killer Ted Bundy.
Additionally, Horsch’s passenger possessed a forged ID bearing the name of a missing woman, Blair Tonzelli.
After the stop, investigators searched Horsch’s residence on West Chew Avenue in Philadelphia’s Olney neighborhood, uncovering evidence linked to two women who were reported missing. Authorities noted files that suggested the deaths of both individuals.
The remains of the two women, Maribel Fres, who vanished in 2018, and Gabrielle Amarande, last seen in 2012, have yet to be discovered.
Authorities are sifting through an enormous volume of evidence: around 600,000 images, 70,000 videos, and over 10,000 pages of documents, manuscripts, and drawings.
In the investigation, they also recovered a fake FBI identification card, an illegal firearm, various gun components, five urns that appeared to contain human remains, “120 pieces of ballistic evidence,” and evidence of a marijuana cultivation setup.
Furthermore, police are analyzing 20 containers filled with unidentified substances obtained from what they suspect is an underground lab.
Former FBI agent JJ Craver remarked, “They’re going to comb through that house very meticulously, looking for any forensic evidence that might connect him to the victims and the missing persons.”
The site has connections to another missing woman, Amy McHale, who disappeared in 2016; her family suspects something happened to her at that location.
Horsch’s father, Raymond Charles Horsch, also resided in the house until his passing in 2025.
