Britain is often viewed as a Western nation, where liberal elites promote a form of multiculturalism. They insist, sometimes insistently, that “Diversity is our strength,” while simultaneously welcoming large numbers of people from less developed countries. This approach to empathy and inclusivity seems to have led to some concerning trends.
In fact, things have apparently reached a concerning point. The UK Home Office recently felt compelled to remind migrants not to commit heinous acts against children.
As part of a new government booklet titled Understanding Behavior and Expectations in the UK: A Guide for Asylum Seekers, the message is, “We understand that moving to a new country can be difficult, and that laws and customs might differ from those in your homeland. It’s crucial to grasp the laws in the UK that safeguard everyone’s safety and rights.”
The same booklet details that women in the UK have the right to “work and make their own money, pursue studies, travel freely, choose whom they marry or choose not to marry at all.” It emphasizes that decisions about one’s life belong to the individual.
The Home Office went further to clarify that no adult woman is expected to have decisions made on her behalf without her agreement, not even by her husband or relatives.
On the topics of consent and sexual relations, the Home Office reiterated that “the law is quite clear in the UK: both involved parties must agree to any sexual activity.” This reminds newcomers that regardless of their background, consent is essential.
Sadly, the booklet was released shortly after an Eritrean immigrant, Brooke Dessaragne, was convicted for repeatedly raping an elderly woman outside a church in London.
After informing asylum seekers about the importance of not coercing anyone into sexual activity, the guide emphasized that statutory rape is indeed a serious crime.
The legal age of consent in the UK is set at 16, meaning anyone below that age cannot legally agree to sexual activity. The document stresses that this is a non-negotiable rule that, if violated, could lead to imprisonment or other severe consequences, including the impact on an asylum claim.
Interestingly, Britain doesn’t appear to deport all foreign nationals convicted of child sexual offenses.
Take, for example, Shabir Ahmed, a 73-year-old child rapist whose criminal activities victimized numerous young girls. It was reported that he is set to be released despite a criminal conviction, mainly due to complexities in the 1971 Immigration Act which protects him from deportation.
Moreover, while reminding migrants of women’s rights and the inappropriateness of engaging in sexual activities with minors, the Home Office additionally urged asylum seekers to avoid making lewd comments to strangers, chasing people in public spaces, or abusing others based on religion, gender, or looks.
The booklet wraps up by making it clear that taking or sharing sexual images without consent is a crime.
The Ministry of Home Affairs also introduced a leaflet titled Keeping Children Safe in the UK, reminding asylum seekers that what may be permissible in their countries could be illegal in the UK.
This leaflet underscored that any form of child sexual abuse or violence, like using objects to hit children, as well as practices like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and forced marriages, are serious crimes here.
In case these messages don’t reach all migrants, the Home Office also shared a poster indicating that engaging in sexual acts with minors could adversely affect their asylum status.
British reform leader Nigel Farage voiced his concern, tweeting, “The Home Office has used taxpayer money to produce posters for illegal immigrants. Why are we allowing these individuals into our country?”
Conservative MP Chris Philip also expressed alarm, stating that the new Home Office booklet advising illegal immigrants against sexual crimes against people, including children, tells much about the nature of those entering the UK unlawfully.
Philip remarked that the attitudes towards women in sectors of society from where many immigrants come clash significantly with those in Western cultures, suggesting that reports of sexual assault involving illegal immigrants are now alarmingly frequent. He believes the Home Office should prioritize the deportation of illegal immigrants over teaching them behavioral norms.
According to information gathered, over 25% of sexual assault prosecutions in 2024 involved foreign nationals, while 8% involved offenders of unknown nationality, hinting that the statistics regarding convicted foreign-born rapists might be significantly higher.
Seems like many people in Britain are growing increasingly frustrated with the current approach to diversity.
A recent public opinion poll revealed that only 49% of Britons believe diversity strengthens society, which is notably lower than the 64% of Americans who hold the same view. Moreover, 40% of Britons expressed concerns that a decline in the proportion of white individuals would negatively impact society.
