The status of infielder DJ LeMahieu, who was hit in the face by a ball while warming up, was unknown hours before Friday’s game.
LeMahieu was working at first base during infield drills and caught another ball while being hit by a hit.
LeMahieu clutched his face and ran to the dugout, where he collapsed and received treatment.
Trainers tended to LeMahieu, and Gleyber Torres ran off the field to sit beside him and put his hand on LeMahieu’s shoulder.
Trainers appeared to check LeMahieu’s jaw for a few minutes before LeMahieu walked down the tunnel and into the clubhouse under his own power.
There was no immediate update on LeMahieu, who played first base and batted ninth in the series opener against the Rockies in the Bronx.
