The Democratic National Committee (DNC) paid President Joe Biden’s legal costs of $1.5 million over the classified documents scandal, a financial report reveals.
The payments came despite the DNC repeatedly attacking former President Donald Trump for using campaign funds to cover legal costs.
Special Counsel Robert Hur launched an investigation into Biden in January 2023 for mishandling classified documents.Despite Biden’s lifelong politician status and millionaire status, the DNC picked up Axios reported that it was a legal wiretap.
- From July 2023 to February 2024, the DNC paid $1.05 million to Bob Bauer PLLC, the private limited liability company of Biden’s lead attorney, Bob Bauer.
- These payments were primarily to address the special counsel’s investigation, which included bringing in veteran attorney David Laufman. He is a former Justice Department official who previously oversaw politically charged investigations into Hillary Clinton’s email server and Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Mr. Biden, 81, experienced confusion and “memory failure” at least seven times during the interview with Mr. Xu, according to records obtained by Breitbart News.

Mr. Xu’s investigation, which concluded in February, found that Mr. Biden “intentionally” kept classified documents but declined to prosecute, citing “insufficient evidence.” Mr. Xu characterized Mr. Biden as an “old man with a bad memory.”
Meanwhile, the Biden administration’s Justice Department indicted Trump in a similar documents case. If convicted on all 40 charges, he could be sentenced to up to 450 years in federal prison.
