Doctor denies basic biological fact: ‘Is it possible for men to become pregnant?’

Senate Hearing on Chemical Abortion Pills

In a recent Senate hearing titled “Protecting Women: Exposing the Dangers of Chemical Abortion Pills,” Sen. Josh Hawley from Missouri engaged in a conversation with Dr. Nisha Verma. His goal seemed to be to clarify what he described as “biological reality.”

Dr. Verma, however, found it challenging to address his inquiries directly.

“I wasn’t quite sure I understood your earlier response to Senator Moody. Do you believe men can get pregnant?” asked Hawley.

Dr. Verma responded, “I hesitated because I wasn’t really sure where this conversation was leading or its intent. I care for patients with various identities, including many women. That’s where I paused.”

“The intent is truth. So, can men become pregnant?” Hawley pressed.

Dr. Verma reiterated her uncertainty regarding the purpose of his question, to which Hawley replied, “The objective is simply to establish biological reality.”

The discussion continued but Dr. Verma maintained that they were merely “polarized.”

Hawley remarked, “I don’t want to create division. It’s peculiar that we’re having this discussion during a science hearing. To clarify, it’s women who become pregnant, not men. Our focus should be on the safety of women and the evidence that indicates this abortion pill can cause health complications in 11 percent of cases.”

He continued, stating, “There are clear biological differences between men and women. If you can’t agree on this fundamental matter, I struggle to take you seriously as a scientist. I thought we’d moved beyond these issues.”

Dr. Verma responded, “It’s quite unusual for you to promote a political agenda that’s been extensively discredited and rejected by the American public in this setting. While I appreciate this exchange, it’s somewhat disheartening.”

Meanwhile, Blaze TV host Sarah Gonzalez expressed dismay at the situation. She acknowledged Hawley’s common sense but struggled with the apparent refusal of some doctors to recognize basic biological facts.

“This doctor is training future medical professionals, claiming, ‘I understand the complex realities of patients,’ yet she struggles to answer basic questions,” Gonzalez said. “These individuals are responsible for our health care and policy, and they seem deluded.”
