Justice Department Confirms Criminal Referrals Related to 2016 Election
The Justice Department has confirmed that officials from the Obama administration received criminal referrals from National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard. This comes in connection to allegations regarding a storyline that was “manufactured and politicized” to suggest that Russia attempted to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.
While the Justice Department did not provide further comments, it acknowledged that the details had been reported to Fox News. Gabbard released a set of uncategorized documents recently, pointing to a narrative that ties then-President Barack Obama and his national security team to the foundation of an investigation into supposed Trump-Russian collusion, which began after Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Gabbard stated, “Their goal was to take President Trump and overturn the will of the American people. Regardless of their power, those involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted fully. The integrity of our Democratic Republic hinges on it.”
In addition, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) plans to unveil confidential documents related to the 2018 DOJ Inspector General Report, which examined investigations tied to the 2016 election. Grassley will be declassifying an appendix that focuses specifically on Clinton’s email investigation, as confirmed by Fox News.
“This isn’t just a historical matter,” Gabbard remarked in her statement on “Sunday Morning Futures.” She elaborated, “The documents released provide clear evidence of how this unsettling plot was orchestrated by President Obama in the weeks leading up to Trump’s inauguration.” She emphasized that this issue transcends party lines and is a significant concern for all Americans, as it deals with the integrity of the Democratic Republic.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
