DOJ targets pro-life activists with new lawsuit, but two GOP lawmakers are fighting back: ‘Biden’s two-tiered justice system’

The Justice Department is using the controversial law to target more pro-life activists.

On Monday, the Department of Justice announced a lawsuit Two pro-life organizations, Citizens for a Pro-Life Society and Red Rose Rescue, and Laura Giese, Lauren Handy, Clara McDonald, Monica Miller, Christopher Moshinski, Jay Smith, and Audrey. – Seven pro-life activists named Whipple violated the Freedom of Admissions Act about three years ago.

“It’s absurd that the Biden Administration’s Department of Justice is going after pro-life Americans while allowing criminals and dangerous illegal aliens to roam free on our streets.”

The FACE Act is a controversial law that President Joe Biden’s Justice Department is using primarily to target pro-life activists.

Suspicion

lawsuit Claim The defendants physically disturbed two abortion clinics in Ohio on June 4, 2021, and June 5, 2021.

In the first incident, the defendants entered the clinic’s waiting room and allegedly encouraged pregnant women not to obtain abortions. The lawsuit alleges that the defendants refused to leave when asked. Police eventually arrived and physically removed the pro-life activists from the waiting room.

The lawsuit alleges that the protests disrupted the clinic’s appointment schedule, forcing some women to reschedule their “surgical abortions” for another day.

In the second incident, the defendants allegedly approached women seeking abortions in the parking lot of a Planned Parenthood surgery center and urged them not to have abortions. The lawsuit alleges that the defendants blocked the clinic and cars in the parking lot, and that the pro-life activists refused to leave despite police orders.

The lawsuit claims these actions forced the clinic to close for the day and canceled nine scheduled “procedures,” presumably referring to abortions.

Miller, one of the defendants in the lawsuit and head of a pro-life citizen group, disputed the government’s claims.

“We are not engaging in any form of physical interference, we are not restricting the freedom of movement of women who seek to kill unborn children or abortion center staff,” Miller told The Blaze News.

“The Department of Justice’s complaint completely falsifies and mischaracterizes what we do,” she explained. “Rescue workers simply go into the waiting room, sit quietly and talk to the mothers, offering them material assistance and, of course, red roses. We bring peaceful protesters closer to helping the mothers. We are confident that we will prevail in this sham effort,” and save unborn children from violent destruction. ”

FACE Method

Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clark boasted in a statement that the Justice Department is “committed” to enforcing the FACE Act to protect people seeking “access to reproductive health services.”

“It is unlawful to prevent people from accessing reproductive health care or to physically prevent a health care provider from providing reproductive health care,” Clark said. “Thirty years ago this month, Congress passed the FACE Act to combat acts of violence, threats of violence, and physical obstruction in our nation’s reproductive health clinics.”

Clark is the same person who works for the Department of Justice. A person who is alleged to have lied under oath about Her arrest history during the senatorial confirmation process.

Under Clark’s leadership, the Department of Justice has increased enforcement of the FACE Act since its repeal. Roe vs. WadeDaily Signal mainly targeting pro-lifers report. Dozens of pregnancy centers and over 200 churches targeted Since its abolition eggYet, the Justice Department has only prosecuted a handful of people for violating the FACE Act in these crimes.

Clark, a pro-life advocate, believes pregnancy centers that offer women alternatives to abortion are “harmful,” “predatory” and “fake.” According to the Washington Free Beacon.

Exactly how often the FACE method is used remains unknown Because the Department of Justice hasn’t provided that data..

Selective enforcement of the FACE Act has been implemented by Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas). is fighting back against Biden Department of Justice and the FACE Act.

“It’s time to repeal the FACE Act,” Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) told The Blaze News.

“This is yet another example of the Biden administration weaponizing constitutionally questionable laws against anti-abortion sidewalk counselors and failing to protect pregnancy centers and churches from violent attacks,” Lee said at the Justice Department. talked about the latest lawsuit. “Anti-abortion activists are being handed grossly disproportionate sentences for minor crimes, while arsonists and left-wing rioters are getting away with it.”

Additionally, Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) said the Justice Department’s action was an example of “Biden’s two-tiered justice system.”

“It is ridiculous to allow criminals and dangerous illegal aliens to roam freely on the streets while the Biden administration’s Department of Justice goes after pro-life Americans,” Roy told Blaze News. “This is another example of Biden’s two-tiered justice system, which prefers to go after former presidents, parents, and anyone who disagrees with the policies of radical, progressive Democrats rather than jail the true criminals.” It’s nothing more than that.

“House Republicans must immediately repeal the FACE Act and stop Biden’s pro-abortion agenda,” he said.
