When her goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, was mentioned as a possible candidate, she replied, “She’d be great, wouldn’t she? She knows me and all my quirks.”

While Parton is keen for a 9 to 5 remake, her co-star Lily Tomlin isn’t so keen on the idea.
In an interview with People magazine, Tomlin spoke about rumors that a sequel was once in the works, but now admitted he’s not sure what the storyline will be.
“We took one official shot at the script,” she says, “and that draft just didn’t work for us. We couldn’t really see the world of work as it is today.” [in the pages]People are working from home. They’re doing gig work. Their bosses don’t even know. They’re at home.”
Parton told Entertainment Tonight in 2019 that the trio had “completely abandoned” the idea of a sequel.

“I don’t think I’m going to do a sequel,” she told the outlet at the time, “because I didn’t think the script was different enough from the first one, and the first one was so good.”
The film “9 to 5” has already inspired a short-lived early ’80s sitcom starring Rita Moreno, a Broadway musical and the 2019 documentary “9 to 5: The Story of a Movement.”
Tomlin told People magazine that when he heard about Aniston’s remake, he was apprehensive.
“I felt the same way I did with the musical – I felt like a part of me was rejected. I felt like the role was always mine and I could play it again,” she said.
