According to the US Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE), a Dominican man seeking human smuggling that led to the deaths of three minors, resulting in the deaths of three minors.
Batista Matos, 36, was sent home on his fifth ice removal flight on Monday.
He left Miami for Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, where he met local law enforcement agencies and was taken into custody.

“This fugitive's return to the Dominican Republic is a prime example of how ICE works closely with our international law enforcement partners to identify, find and remove criminal aliens that they wish to commit in a country that is allegedly committed a crime.”
Matos was deported for the first time on October 8, 2010. This is when an agent of the US Border Patrol met him near Caborojo, Puerto Rico, after illegally entering the territory.

Although details of the encounter were not provided, Ice said it was also discovered and deleted in 2011, 2019 and 2023.

In connection with his latest deportation, Matos was arrested in San Juan, Puerto Rico in September 2024.
He entered ice custody on February 6th, and his removal was moved to Miami.
“ICE prioritizes arrest and removal of criminal foreign fugitives, and as a result, our community is safer and safer,” said Lopez Vega.

American authorities partner with the Dominican national police to return Matos to his home country, where he is charged with a crime.
