NBA Finals Buzz: Knicks vs. Spurs
The NBA Finals are generating quite a buzz, primarily because the New York Knicks will face Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. But there’s more to the excitement. President Donald Trump is set to be at Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the series.
A few crossovers have already happened, particularly when the president reacted to Wembanyama standing with his arms crossed during the national anthem before Game 1 in San Antonio. It raised eyebrows, for sure.
This French player, in his third year, was seen maintaining a crossed-arm stance while “The Star-Spangled Banner” played. Many people speculated about whether he was making a political statement, especially given his non-American status. But, interestingly, no one actually asked him about it after the game.
Nonetheless, Dan Zaksheske reached out to President Trump aboard Air Force One for his take on the situation. “I didn’t see it. Is that what he did?” the president queried. After learning that nobody had inquired about Wembanyama’s intentions, he replied, “Well, I guess you’ll have to ask him.”
President Trump also expressed his thoughts on Game 1, stating, “I thought it was amazing. I think the Knicks are a great team. They started slow, but they’re getting stronger.” He added, “Wemby is going to be a great player, but the Knicks really played well.”
In a thrilling opener, the Knicks clinched a 105-95 victory, taking an early 1-0 lead in the series. Game 3, which Trump is scheduled to attend, will be held Monday night, starting at 8:30 p.m. ET.
