Issue: New York Court of Appeals reduces bail in Donald Trump’s civil fraud case.
One might wonder what formula Judge Arthur Engoron used to determine that Trump’s “ill-gotten gains” amounted to $454 million in the first place. Grace” March 26).
Kudos to the New York appellate court for disallowing such oppression.
The city’s commercial companies are fleeing for warmer climates as the cost of doing business in New York has become prohibitive.

I’m glad President Trump is finally getting a break as the outrageous $454 million judgment was reduced to a more “manageable” $175 million.

Our court system is broken.
A New York appeals court has agreed to withhold collection on a civil fraud judgment of more than $454 million if former President Donald Trump submits only $175 million within 10 days.
Why do rich white men always seem to be on vacation?
The phenomenon of our court system’s inability to hold people accountable for horrific crimes is widespread across our country.
Recent court decisions show that unconscious biases about a person’s background, wealth, race, gender, and appearance play a more important role in outcomes than actual laws.

It is legal to pay political campaign contributions to lawyers who handle cases directly related to the Trump campaign.
But why is it legal for him to use campaign funds to pay lawyers for his fraud case in New York?
Or is it E. Jean Carroll’s defamation suit?

In undemocratic countries, leaders try to eliminate opponents.
This is not a partisan issue. As Americans, we must oppose the weaponization of our justice system.
If we don’t, next time one of us may end up on trial for not sharing the political beliefs of the party in power.

Issue: Kate, Duchess of Wales announces her cancer diagnosis for the first time in public in months.
I was very sad to hear of Duchess Kate’s cancer diagnosis (“Royals ‘huge shock’ revealed” March 23).
She said she was undergoing preventive chemotherapy.
My thoughts and prayers go out to her husband Prince William and their children.
I was diagnosed with cancer at age 66, so I understand what she’s going through right now.
I am currently 75 years old and my primary care physician is watching over me.
The key to cancer treatment is regular check-ups.
Princess Kate, we are all praying for you.

The medical issues the royal family is currently facing are not someone else’s problem, but the royal family’s own.
Of course, the mainstream media is making a big fuss about this story.

Duchess Kate embodies what is missing in today’s culture: grace and dignity in the face of adversity.
I wish the public could follow her example.
