Dr. Phil Criticizes Media for Igniting Anti-ICE Riots in Los Angeles
Dr. Phil spoke out on Thursday, criticizing the media for what he perceives as encouragement of the ongoing anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles.
During his show, he shared various images and footage from the LA riots, highlighting how media outlets appear to downplay the chaos. “Your eyes won’t fool you, but the media will,” he remarked.
He referenced a moment where CNN’s Dana Bash compared the current situation in LA to the riots of 1992, stating that the earlier events were “real riots.”
In another segment, he showcased an MSNBC interview with California Representative Judy Chu, where the chaos was labeled a “manufactured crisis.” Dr. Phil countered that, in his view, it was the media’s reporting that was actually “manufactured.”
With a hint of sarcasm, he commented, “I don’t think this is a real riot.” He observed that while one host claimed there was a “celebratory atmosphere,” another described the protests as “peaceful” family gatherings. “The best place to take your kids,” he quipped, “I don’t think so.”
He presented examples of violent criminals being addressed by law enforcement, asserting, “This isn’t a witch hunt against ‘Abuela Maria’; this is about law enforcement getting criminals off the streets.”
Continuing, he criticized the left’s response: “They encourage criminality by blocking highways, setting fires, throwing rocks, destroying property, and attacking federal agents.” Dr. Phil didn’t hold back in his condemnation.
Mayor Bass, in response to Trump’s remarks about ICE, downplayed the situation, claiming, “Things in LA are calm.” But Dr. Phil expressed concern that the reality is quite different.
He shared his belief that the issue goes beyond immigration; it’s also about the media’s misrepresentation. “This isn’t just a protest. Everyone has the right to protest, which makes this country great. But this is creating a hostile environment and distorting the truth,” he stated.
His argument included the idea that calls to abolish ICE sound as absurd as those to disband the police, suggesting both would result in an inability to enforce laws. He criticized MSNBC’s Jacob Soborov, indicating that pretending there isn’t an issue with illegal immigration only makes matters worse.
“The media doesn’t just ignore bad behavior; they actually normalize it,” Dr. Phil added. “They’re misleading viewers, despite videos showing the real story.”
Dr. Phil concluded by suggesting that those seeking the truth have to navigate through the noise created by mainstream media. “If you want the truth, you need to seek it out,” he urged.
