Tragic Drone Attack in Kharkiv Region

A young family was tragically lost in a Russian drone attack in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region on Tuesday night, with a father and three small children dying, leaving behind a pregnant mother as the only survivor.

Oleg Sinegubov, the governor of Kharkiv, reported in a telegram that the strike occurred in the town of Bohodukiv, resulting in the deaths of 34-year-old Grigory and his three children: two-year-old twin boys, Ivan and Vladislav, and their one-year-old sister, Miroslava.

They had only recently fled from the frontline town of Zolotiv, located around 40 miles from the Russian border, to escape constant shelling.

It was supposed to be their first night in their new home when disaster struck.

Olga, the children’s mother, who is 35 weeks pregnant, survived with minor injuries and burns and was later released from the hospital.

Sinegubov condemned the attack, saying, “Once again, Russian troops have targeted a civilian residence in the middle of the night. This constitutes yet another act of state terrorism against civilians, including young children, pregnant women, and the elderly.”

Preliminary reports from the Kharkiv district prosecutor’s office indicated that a Gueran 2 drone was responsible for the attack. This model is known to be a Russian designation for the Iranian-made Shahed-136, a drone that detonates on impact and has been frequently utilized to target Ukrainian urban areas and infrastructure.

In a separate context, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated in a post on X that the Russian military had recently launched additional attacks along the border and in frontline regions, including the deployment of 470 attack drones into Kherson in a single day.

Meanwhile, restoration efforts for gas supplies in the Donetsk region are underway, responding to recent Russian strikes that affected infrastructure. In Zaporizhzhia, some areas are currently without power following a drone strike, but restoration work is in progress.

President Zelenskiy has directed military and regional leaders to implement further measures aimed at enhancing the security of critical infrastructure.
