The Duke Blue Devils put the past behind them Friday night.
Duke defeated Florida State 23-16, ending a 22-game losing streak against the Seminoles. It was the Blue Devils' first win in the series dating back to 1992.

“The game went exactly as we expected,” Blue Devils head coach Manny Diaz said. “Our defense won the game. … The most important result is the win.”
The Blue Devils were effective with their ground game. Starr Thomas rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Peyton Jones gained 29 rushing yards.
Florida State had 291 total yards while committing four turnovers. Florida State had two interceptions and lost two fumbles. Duke cornerback Chandler Rivers returned one of his interceptions for a touchdown in the first quarter.
Duke took an early lead and never looked back.

Florida State quarterback Brock Glenn committed three of Florida State's four turnovers. He completed nine passes for 110 yards. He also had 47 yards rushing.
“It's unfortunate that we let plays and mistakes go,” Florida State coach Mike Norvell said. “I truly believe this team was ready to play at a very high level.”

Duke improved to 6-1 on the season, but Florida State fell to 1-6.
