Eagles Make Coaching Change

A notable shift has occurred in Philadelphia!

The Philadelphia Eagles have officially announced the dismissal of Kevin Patullo from his position as offensive coordinator, confirming the move on Tuesday.

“I’ve made the decision to change our offensive coordinator,” head coach Nick Sirianni stated in an official announcement. “I met with Kevin today to talk about this tough choice. He’s a fantastic coach whom I respect greatly. Over the past five years, he’s been pivotal to our team’s achievements, not only on the field but also behind the scenes as a respected leader for our players and organization. I’m confident he will have a thriving coaching career ahead.”

“Ultimately, when we don’t meet our objectives, the responsibility falls on me.”

Sources speaking with ESPN’s Adam Schefter suggest that Sirianni may consider keeping Patullo on staff, though in a different role.

At 44, Patullo was promoted to offensive coordinator this past offseason, stepping up from his previous roles as pass game coordinator and associate head coach following Kellen Moore’s departure to take the head coaching position with the New Orleans Saints.

After winning the Super Bowl the previous year, the Eagles saw a significant decline in offensive output this season. Their scoring average dropped from 27.2 points per game, placing them seventh in the NFL, to 22.3, now at 19th; their offensive efficiency fell from fourth overall to 19th; and rushing yards per game plummeted from 179 (second in the league) to 116.9 (18th).

Even with the highest-paid offensive unit in the league, featuring notable players like running back Saquon Barkley, wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, along with quarterback Jalen Hurts, the Philadelphia offense struggled with consistency throughout the season. This inconsistency was evident in their 23-19 playoff defeat against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Eagles may not be competing in the Super Bowl this year, but it seems fans are feeling optimistic after this news.
