El Paso Border Agents Rescue Migrants from New Mexico Stash Houses

El Paso Sector Border Patrol agents rescued groups of migrants from multiple safe houses near the New Mexico border. So far this year, El Paso Sector agents have rescued approximately 2,400 migrants from 244 smuggler safe houses.

El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Anthony “Scott” Good posted a report about X, saying that agents had raided a safe house in Dona Ana County, New Mexico. Agents and local sheriff’s deputies rescued 15 migrants during the raid.

Good said traffickers are forcing migrants into overcrowded conditions and using force to intimidate migrants and their families.

A few days earlier, agents from the Border Patrol’s Anti-Smuggling Unit in Las Cruces, New Mexico, had found 17 more migrants at the safe house and arrested two others on suspicion of “harboring illegal immigration.”

According to Chief Good, agents discovered and seized $5,300 in illegal activity at the cache.

The chief reported that agents assigned to Border Patrol Station Santa Teresa, New Mexico, also arrested a previously deported child sex offender who was attempting to re-enter the United States.

The child sex offender has previous convictions for third-degree child sexual abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and driving while intoxicated. He faces a federal felony charge of illegally reentering the country after being deported. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in federal prison.
