Authorities are currently investigating the deaths of a couple found in their South Carolina home as a homicide, seeking assistance from the public to uncover more details about the case.
The Oconee County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims as Larry Moore, aged 76, and Sandra Moore, who was 75. Family members contacted 911 on Thursday evening after failing to reach them.
In a statement, the coroner’s office confirmed that the couple died due to trauma, but specifics regarding their injuries have been withheld at the request of the sheriff’s office, which aims to maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
Details about when the couple was killed or how long they had been in their home before being found remain unclear. Deputies reported that their last contact with the couple was earlier that same week.
Sheriff’s representatives indicated that they believe the incident is isolated and that there is no threat to the public, although the homicide investigation continues.
Calvary Church, where the couple were longtime members, expressed sorrow over their deaths, describing Larry and Sandra as “one of its most faithful members” and urging the community to keep their family and friends in their thoughts and prayers.
Those who knew the couple spoke highly of them, noting their kindness and dedication to the community. They reportedly operated Moore & Moore Fish Camp for many years before retiring in 2016.
Investigators are encouraging anyone with information about the case, including any home security footage from the time leading up to the discovery, to come forward.
