Elderly man criticizes teen attackers who violently assaulted him outside a Baltimore store

Teen Attack on Elderly Man Outside Baltimore Store

A retired U.S. Postal Service worker, aged 74, has come forward to voice his anger following a violent attack by a group of teenagers outside a 7-Eleven in Baltimore this past summer—a terrifying scene that was caught on surveillance cameras.

In July, Baltimore Police released video footage depicting six young males in the midst of the attack, armed with both a rifle and a sword.

According to authorities, the incident, characterized as an “attempted armed robbery,” unfolded at approximately 3:46 a.m. on July 7, in the 2500 block of Liberty Heights Avenue.

Ade Tokumbo shared his experience in an interview with WBFF-TV recently, recounting how the assault happened close to his home. “I didn’t provoke them at all. Suddenly, they started attacking me, and I did what I had to do to defend myself,” he recalled.

In his interview, Tokumbo did not hold back in his criticism, saying, “When they attacked me, I didn’t think of them as just kids. Nah, I see them for what they are: demonic hood rats.”

The report mentions that as Tokumbo approached the store, unaware that it was closed, one assailant brandished a semiautomatic weapon, prompting others to join in. A 7-Eleven employee later confirmed to WJZ-TV that the store was indeed closed during the assault.

During the attack, Tokumbo stated that they demanded both cash and his vehicle, but he fought back to protect himself. Surveillance footage shows the attackers encircling him, shoving him, and tossing objects at him as he tries to shield himself.

One of the assailants cowardly sneaked up from behind, pushing Tokumbo to the ground, where the others proceeded to stomp on him. At one point, another attacker seems to hit him on the head with the rifle.

In a different segment of the video, he attempts to confront one of the suspects who is holding the rifle, but another throws something at him from behind before fleeing.

Eventually, a suspect brandishing a sword approached him, waving it around while others threw objects at him simultaneously.

“I bought that car with my hard work, and I’m not going to let a criminal take what I own,” said Tokumbo, expressing his disdain for criminals. “I have zero respect for them, none whatsoever.”

In one particularly disturbing part of the video, you can see Tokumbo wielding a couple of milk crates as makeshift shields when one of the attackers shoves him down. They then proceeded to punch and kick him while he lays on the ground.

When he attempted to stand, the same person who had knocked him down earlier did so again, almost as if celebrating their actions.

Tokumbo ended up with serious injuries, including fractured ribs, as a result of the assault. However, three months later, there have been no arrests related to what police labeled as an attempted armed robbery.

He expressed his frustration to WBFF about how the attackers are described, saying, “You call them ‘young people’ and ‘juveniles.’ But I don’t see them that way because they don’t act like it. They’re not doing anything productive, just hurting or killing others.”

Authorities are encouraging anyone with information on the incident to contact Baltimore Police at 410-366-6311. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call the Metro Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-866-7LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587).
