The elderly man who was accidentally hit and killed by a truck on a Brooklyn crosswalk on June 12 was a former mafia boss.
Anthony Conigliaro, 86, was struck and decapitated by a Department of Transportation (DOT) truck. New York Post report on friday.

Video footage taken at the scene on the day of the incident show Law enforcement vehicles swarmed the scene, and at one point, video shows a white tarp being draped over something on the road as authorities investigated the scene.
Conigliaro lived alone in his Dahlgren Place apartment and neighbors said the father of two always looked out for his neighbors.

Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn accused Conigliaro of being a soldier for the Genovese crime family in 2005. For many years, he worked in the wholesale cake business, sold confections throughout New York City and ran an Italian ice cream and gelato stand in Little Italy, according to court documents.
In a four-count indictment, federal investigators said Conigliaro worked as a loan shark for the Genovese family.
He eventually pleaded guilty to organized crime conspiracy and received a 13-month sentence, according to court records.
The media reported that police arrested him in 1999 on loan sharking charges and a few years later on a grand theft charge.

It’s a four-way intersection. It scares me and I think it’s awful. They need to do something about it,” she said, adding that she hopes authorities will install turn signals as a safety measure.
