Elderly man in Baltimore assaulted at 7-Eleven by individuals with a sword

Authorities are currently on the lookout for a group suspected of attacking and attempting to rob an elderly man outside a gas station in Baltimore.

According to surveillance footage, the group approached the man outside a 7-Eleven, initiating a violent encounter and brandishing weapons.

Six unidentified individuals, dressed in hoodies, were seen repeatedly slamming the man to the ground and throwing various objects at him.

In the video provided by the police, at one moment, one of the attackers seemingly points what looks like an assault rifle at the victim, while another displays a sword.

The Baltimore Police Department reported that the incident took place just before 4 a.m. on July 7 at a 7-Eleven located on Liberty Heights Avenue in the northern part of the city.

This attack occurred shortly after Mayor Brandon M. Scott announced a decline in violent crime rates in Baltimore.

His office highlighted that the city has recorded 50 homicides this year, marking the lowest figure for the initial six months of any year in Baltimore’s history. This represents a 23.1% reduction in homicides and a 2.5% decrease in nonfatal shootings compared to the same period last year.

In relation to the assault at the 7-Eleven, police confirmed to Fox News Digital that the victim sustained minor bruises.

As of now, officers have not been able to verify whether the suspects are linked to other crimes in the city.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Fox News Digital has reached out to 7-Eleven for additional comments.
