An elderly woman and man whose neighbors told the post he was her son were found dead at a Queens home Saturday afternoon, police said.
According to the NYPD, officers answered a 911 call about a man shot at a Middle Village home on 80th Avenue near 58th Avenue just after 1pm, according to the NYPD.
When they entered the house, they discovered that 57 of the men had died of self-inflicted injuries to the head.
It was not immediately clear how the woman died.
Officers said they were still investigating the relationship between the pair, but their neighbors said they were a mother-son duo.
“This is all very shocking,” neighbor Sam Ilyaev told the Post.
Ilyaev said he often came across a man called John around the neighbourhood, but rarely saw an older woman named Dolores.
“For years, we knew each other better in the casual side,” Ilyaev recalled, referring to John.
“We have a few conversations here and there, but we'll always see him regularly.”
“He's always loved conversations. …The neighbor here is a good friend of him and talks with him very often, I see both of them and jump into the conversation any time.”
“We mostly just see him coming out of the house,” Ilyev said, adding that he believed John lived in the house alone.
A red-haired woman hugging another woman wearing a gray hoodie outside the house Saturday afternoon was seen hugging another woman while police investigated the scene.
The gun was recovered at the scene.
And police are still investigating the cause of the woman's death.
